To clarify the events of the day, there was a shooting in the Kensett community. It did not involve the school in any way. We will dismiss at our normal time.

After we received information from our resource officer this morning about an incident that happened in Kensett. It was determined our students and staff were not in danger, so we did not lockdown any of our schools. We have been told the suspects are no longer in our area.

Officer Cochrane, our resource officer, received notification that the Little Rock FBI office received a report indicating a school shooting would occur in Arkansas on 8/29/19. No specific school was indicated in the notice. The reporting party lives in another country, and his/her identity could not be confirmed. The reporting party allegedly received the information while playing an online video game. This information was provided to all local law enforcement agencies for general awareness.
While this information was provided for general awareness and is not specific to our school, we are taking the report seriously. We will work with all police departments to have an increased law enforcement presence on our campuses throughout the day. If you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to your building principal, Superintendent, or Officer Cochrane.

Today, students participated in our Stacking of the Cup/Writing Activity!
We worked with our partners to do different challenges as we stacked and unstacked the cups.
Before we began, we wrote down our predictions of how we were going to take each cup off without touching it with our hands.
Students then were able to work with their partners to unstack the cups and do different challenges.
As we finished, we then gave the activity a name, explained why we named it that and then shared our good and bad experiences on paper. Students had to write about how they had to work together and and their roles in this activity.

Thank you to McAlister’s for providing Sweet Tea to our staff! Also, we are grateful to First Security for bringing the yummy scones for teacher/staff appreciation week. 🥤 We love our community partners.💜

Our staff, SRO, and principals handled the issue quickly and efficiently. No students were in danger at any time and there were NO weapons on campus yesterday. The appropriate actions were taken by the administration to make sure all students, including the student in question, were safe and receiving the help they needed. I want to commend Officer Williams. Mr. Luttrell, and Mr. Rush for how well they handled a difficult situation and thank them for working hard to keep everyone safe. Again, we always focus on student and staff safety and if a legitimate threat had been present, further actions would have been taken. Riverview Parents and Patrons: Yesterday, Feb. 28th at approximately 2:30pm a reporter from a local news outlet came onto the Riverview Junior High/High School Campus. Upon his arrival, the reporter attempted to gain access into both the high school and junior high. Despite his attempts, the reporter did not gain access to any Riverview facilities without permission. The reporter was only allowed entry into the Riverview Junior High office after presenting his press credentials to the Junior High Principal. After determining the reporter’s intent for being on campus, the Junior High Principal escorted the reporter back out of the building and to the central office where he met briefly with district administration. The reporter was then escorted to his vehicle to leave campus. The Searcy Police Department was contacted and the appropriate actions were taken to ban this reporter from all Riverview Campuses and inform him of the consquences should he choose to violate this ban. It must be stressed that despite other reporting, this reporter did not gain access to any Riverview facility without permission and presenting his media credentials. Our thanks goes to the Riverview Junior High Principal, Mr. Stuart Hill, for ensuring the safety of our students. Thank you for your support in making our campuses safe and trusting us with both the safety and education of your children.
